In order to achieve this distinction, they attended a 2-year residency program in pediatrics following the completion of their general dental degree. They also went through a rigorous examination process that tested their pediatric knowledge and problem solving abilities. Board Certification is the highest honor a specialist in pediatric dentistry can achieve. Only dentists who have completed advanced training in pediatric dentistry can sit for the board certification examinations.
